We have four Katahdin/Dorper girls and two boys.
Ruth is the self-appointed spokesperson for the flock. She’s the loudest by far and firmly believes everyone should know exactly what shes thinking at all times. Martha is her best friend and complete opposite-quiet, calm, and happy to let Ruth do all the talking.
They each have a daughter, Elodie and Esther, who have apparently agreed that humans are highly suspicious creatures. They want absolutely nothing to do with me and treat every interaction like I’m plotting against them.
As for the boys, Stu is destined for the freezer. Wellington has a slightly more glamorous job-he’s our breeding ram for fall. After that…he’ll also be filling the freezer. We have tried to have an adult ram on the property, and he became aggressive and after a few close calls we decided that unless we have no other option, we will not keep adult rams. Around here, everyone has a purpose and we are pretty honest about what that purpose is.
